The Twelve Days of Home Gym Christmas: 12 BrainGain Gifts from €29 to €1,065, Ranked by Who They Are For

The song gives you 364 gifts and nowhere to put them. This guide gives you twelve, one per day, every one on the live EU store at the price shown, from a €29 training plan to a €1,065 bundle with two kettlebells in the box. Each day names the person it is for. Day eleven, the Pro 41.5 kg with an adjustable bench, is the one we would buy ourselves, and we show the three-year maths against a gym membership to explain why.

Somewhere around the fourth verse, the song stops being about birds and starts being about excess. Five gold rings. Ten lords a-leaping. By the twelfth day the true love has sent 364 gifts and nobody has anywhere to put them. That is, coincidentally, the story of most home gyms: a rowing machine in the spare room, a bench that became a laundry rail, a box of resistance bands with the poster still folded inside. So this year we wrote our own twelve days. Twelve pieces of BrainGain kit, one per day, from €29 to €1,065, ranked by who each one is actually for. And on the eleventh day, the buy we would make ourselves.

The ground rule is simple. Every item is on the live EU store today, at the price shown, with the 36-month warranty that covers the whole range. Nothing is a stocking-filler for the sake of it. If a product is on this list it is because a real person we can picture would use it in March. For the same argument with a hard ceiling, our gifts under €300 guide stops at day five. This one keeps going.

The short version

  • Day eleven is the winner: the SmartBells Pro 41.5 kg Chrome + Adjustable Bench bundle, €859. Dumbbells, bench, nine back angles, done. It is the first thing on this list that makes the gym membership redundant.
  • Cheapest day: the 8-Week Adjustable Dumbbell Strength Plan, €29. Best day per euro: the 18 kg Adjustable Kettlebell, €99.
  • Every item carries the 36-month EU warranty. Prices checked 22 September 2026.
  • Twelve days, twelve links, zero partridges.

Why a bench changes the maths

Most adjustable dumbbell guides, ours included, spend their words on the dumbbells. Fair enough. But ask anyone who trained at home through 2025 what they bought second, and the answer is a bench. Without one, every press happens on the floor with your elbows stopping short, every row is braced on a sofa arm, and incline work does not exist. With one, the same pair of dumbbells covers flat, incline and decline pressing, seated shoulder work, supported rows and step-ups. The dumbbells did not get better. Your access to them did.

That is why the day-eleven bundle wins this list. The Pro 41.5 kg Chrome + Adjustable Bench pairs the heaviest dumbbell in the Pro line with a bench that adjusts through nine angles on both the backrest and the seat. Bought as one order it is €859, and it is the point on the list where "some kit at home" turns into "I do not need the gym". If you want the pressing science, our guide to building muscle at home goes through why incline angles matter for chest development.

Bodyweight Muscle with the Pro 41.5 kg. Independent channel, over 20,000 views.

For the smaller sizes on the list, the press has already done the homework: T3 gave the 24 kg SmartBells a T3 Recommends award in June 2026, and Your Average Guy Style reviewed the earlier 32 kg set and called it worth every penny.

The twelve days, from €29 to €1,065

In price order. Each heading names the person it is for, because that is the only ranking that matters when you are buying for someone else.

Day 1: 8-Week Adjustable Dumbbell Strength Plan, for the person who already owns the kit

€29 · written by PT Rob Carr for BrainGain · printable tracker

The cheapest day and the most overlooked. Someone who got dumbbells last Christmas and stalled by March did not need heavier weights. They needed a plan. The 8-Week Strength Plan is a structured programme built around adjustable dumbbells with a tracker you can print and stick to the fridge. Our guide to progressive overload at home explains the logic it runs on.

Day 2: 18 kg Adjustable Kettlebell, for the person with a rug and no space

€99 · 4 to 18 kg · 7 settings · turn the handle

Swings, goblet squats and halos in a one-bedroom flat. The adjustable kettlebell replaces seven cast-iron bells and lives under a side table. We made the full case for it in our Twixmas workout guide.

Day 3: SmartBells Pro Stand, for the person whose dumbbells live on the floor

€189 · fits Pro 23.5, 32.5 and 41.5 kg

The gift for someone who already owns a Pro set. Waist height, no bending, no hunting under the bed mid-set. The Pro Stand is the accessory owners tell us they should have bought first. Ninja owners get the matching Ninja Stand at the same price. See dumbbells with a stand for why it matters.

Day 4: SmartBells 24 kg, for the beginner or the second bedroom

€229 · 2.5 to 24 kg per hand · 15 settings · one-second twist · stand included

The entry point. The SmartBells 24 kg arrive with their own stand, change weight with a twist, and cover every basic movement for a first year of training. Ranked in full in our under €250 guide.

Day 5: Pro Expansion Kit, for the person who outgrew their 23.5s

€249.95 (one step up) or €399.95 (23.5 to 41.5 kg) · handles, bases and plates

The gift nobody thinks of. Someone with Pro 23.5 kg dumbbells who is now pressing the top setting does not need a new pair. The Expansion Kit takes the same set to 32.5 or 41.5 kg with new Gen 4 handles, bases and plates. Cheaper than a second pair, and it keeps the stand they already own.

Day 6: SmartBells 40 kg, for the person who wants heavy without the Pro price

€449 · 5 to 40 kg per hand · 17 settings · push-and-turn dial

The best cost per kilo in the range at €5.61. The SmartBells 40 kg use a one-hand dial that made them our pick for drop sets and supersets, and they are the model most people mean when they say "the BrainGain ones".

Day 7: SmartBells Pro 23.5 kg Chrome, for the person who reads the test reports

€469 · 4 to 23.5 kg · 1.5 kg steps · 14 settings · 34 mm knurled handle

This is the exact model the French lab SaferBuy scored 95 out of 100 in October 2025, with 100 out of 100 on the practical test. The Pro 23.5 kg is the lightest way into the Pro line, and the one we recommend in our guide for women because the 1.5 kg steps suit shoulder and arm work.

Day 8: SmartBells Pro 32.5 kg Chrome, for the person in the middle

€579 · 4 to 32.5 kg · 1.5 kg steps · 20 settings

The Pro 32.5 kg is the set for someone who has been training two years and is not sure they will ever need 40 kg in a dumbbell. Same handle, same mechanism, same warranty as the 41.5, one step lighter and €110 cheaper. If they do outgrow it, day five takes it to 41.5.

Day 9: SmartBells Pro 41.5 kg Black, for the person with a living-room gym

€709 · 4 to 41.5 kg · 26 settings · matte black finish

Mechanically identical to the Chrome, €20 more, and the version that disappears into a dark corner rather than catching the light. The Pro 41.5 kg Black is the pair we picture next to a sofa. Our premium guide covers what €600 and up buys you.

Day 10: 40 kg SmartBells Ninja, for the person who wants 1 kg steps

€749 · 3 to 40 kg · 1 kg increments · 38 settings · knurled handle

The Ninja is a separate line with the finest increments we make. Thirty-eight settings per dumbbell means overload in 1 kg steps for a full year without repeating a weight. The angular plates are the giveaway. Compared against the block competition in our PowerBlock comparison.

Day 11: Pro 41.5 kg Chrome + Adjustable Bench, the one we would buy

€859 · 4 to 41.5 kg · 26 settings · bench with 9 backrest and seat angles · 36-month warranty

Everything above this line is a component. This is a gym. The 41.5 kg Chrome + Bench bundle gives you the heaviest Pro dumbbell, the 34 mm knurled Gen 4 handle, and a bench that goes from flat to upright through nine positions. Incline press, seated shoulder press, chest-supported row, Bulgarian split squat, all on one bench with one pair. At €859 it costs less than eighteen months of the average German gym membership, and unlike the membership it is still there in year three. If you already own the dumbbells, buy the person a bench through the same page and skip the rest of the list.

Day 12: Ninja Gym Bundle, for the person who wants it all in one box

€1,065 · Ninja 40 kg pair · two 18 kg kettlebells · Ninja Stand

The twelfth day is the drummers drumming. The Ninja Gym Bundle is the Ninja dumbbells, two adjustable kettlebells and the stand in one order. Prefer the Pro line? The Pro Ultimate Gym Bundle does the same with the 41.5 kg for €1,035, and the Core Gym Bundle starts at €785 with the 23.5 kg. All three are covered in our under €1,000 guide.

Twelve gifts, one rule: if you cannot picture them using it on a wet Tuesday in March, it goes back on the shelf.

How the day-eleven bundle compares

The honest comparison for €859 is not another dumbbell. It is a gym membership, or a fixed-weight rack with a bench. Here is how the three stack up over the first three years, which is the length of the BrainGain warranty.

Pro 41.5 kg + Bench bundle Fixed rack 4 to 40 kg + bench Gym membership, 3 years
Upfront cost €859 Typically €1,200 to €2,000 €0
Cost over 3 years €859 €1,200 to €2,000 About €1,750 at the German industry average of €48.55 a month
Floor space One bench, one stand A wall of rack None at home
Increments 1.5 kg, 26 settings Usually 2 to 2.5 kg Whatever is free
Warranty 36 months Varies None
BrainGain price checked 22 September 2026. Gym figure uses the DSSV/Deloitte Eckdaten 2026 German industry average of €48.55 per month over 36 months. Rack figure is a typical EU retail range for a 4 to 40 kg fixed pair set with a flat bench, not a named product.

What our owner survey says about gifts that stick

We asked 73 verified BrainGain customers across the EU how they use their kit. Most train three or more times a week. A large majority said the price was justified once they had it. The thing that nearly stopped them buying was not the exercises, it was trust: warranty length and whether the seller would be there if something went wrong. That is exactly the anxiety you inherit when you buy a gym for someone else, and it is why every item on this list carries 36 months and why we link to the SaferBuy report rather than our own reviews. Independent numbers beat marketing on the twelfth day and every other day.

The verdict

If the budget is small, buy day two. If they already own dumbbells, buy day three or day five. If you are building a gym for someone from nothing, buy day eleven and stop reading. The Pro 41.5 kg Chrome + Adjustable Bench is the only item on this list that replaces a membership on its own, and it does it for €859 with a warranty that outlasts three rounds of New Year's resolutions. Day twelve is for the person who wants the kettlebells and the stand in the same box. Everyone else, pick a day, check the live price, and let the true love keep the swans.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best BrainGain gift if the budget is open?

The SmartBells Pro 41.5 kg Chrome + Adjustable Bench bundle at €859. It pairs the heaviest Pro dumbbell (4 to 41.5 kg in 1.5 kg steps) with a bench that adjusts through nine backrest and seat angles, which is the point where home kit replaces a gym membership.

Do you need a bench with adjustable dumbbells?

Not on day one, but it is the second thing most home lifters buy. A bench unlocks incline and decline pressing, seated shoulder work and supported rows that are awkward or impossible on the floor. The BrainGain bench is sold in a bundle with the Pro 41.5 kg Chrome for €859.

What is the cheapest useful BrainGain gift?

The 8-Week Adjustable Dumbbell Strength Plan at €29, written by PT Rob Carr, for someone who already owns dumbbells. For someone with no kit, the 18 kg Adjustable Kettlebell at €99 is the best value item in the range.

Which gift suits someone who already owns BrainGain dumbbells?

The Pro Stand (€189) if their dumbbells live on the floor, or the Pro Expansion Kit (from €249.95) if they have outgrown a 23.5 or 32.5 kg set and want to move up without buying a new pair.

Is the Ninja Gym Bundle worth €1,065?

For someone who wants 1 kg increments and a complete setup in one order, yes. It includes the 40 kg Ninja dumbbells (38 settings each), two 18 kg adjustable kettlebells and the Ninja Stand. The Pro Ultimate Gym Bundle offers the same structure with the Pro 41.5 kg for €1,035.
